The Pentacle, is probably along with the pentagram the symbol of Witchcraft most recognised by the general public.
    To those in the pagan community the five points as represent earth, air, fire, water, and spirit the five factors needed to sustain life. The circle symbolises eternity and infinity, the cycles of life and nature.
    In ritual, the pentacle is used to evoke spirits and to consecrate other ritual tools.

The Pentagram has essentially the same symbolism as the pentacle and although as with most things each tradition has is own variations on the interpretation
